The AK240 is a portable music player built around two Cirrus Logic CS4398 DAC chips, which keep the left and right channels separate. A dedicated XMOS chip handles DSD data, so DSD64 and DSD128 files play natively and are not converted to PCM. PCM formats such as FLAC, WAV, ALAC and AIFF are supported up to 24-bit/192kHz.
The player has a 3.31-inch AMOLED touchscreen, a ten-band equaliser with 0.5dB steps and storage for custom EQ presets. It holds 256GB internally, and a microSD slot adds more. Firmware can be updated over Wi-Fi (OTA). The body is made of aircraft-grade duralumin in a Gun Metal colour.
Headphones connect to the 3.5mm output or the 2.5mm four-pole balanced output. A 3.5mm optical output is also fitted. A USB Micro-B port handles charging and file transfer with a computer, and it lets the player work as a USB DAC with native DSD over DoP. The equaliser is not available in USB DAC mode.
