The 2600 is an homage to the ARP 2600, a semi-modular analog synth first released in 1971. Its signal path is based on the original circuitry, using matched transistors and JFETs. The instrument works without cables thanks to its normalled routing, and 83 patch points allow the signal flow to be reconfigured.
Three VCOs with FM inputs provide square, triangle, saw, sine and pulse waveforms, and any of them can be switched to act as a low frequency oscillator. The multi-mode VCF doubles as the mixer for the three oscillators and includes resonance and a filter mode switch. Further modules include a ring modulator, lag processor, sample and hold, Schmitt trigger, envelope follower, a noise generator with variable color and a digital spring reverb. Two dedicated LFOs offer pulse and sine outputs.
Envelopes come from an ADSR and an AR generator, with a Time Factor switch for x2, x1 or x0.5 timing. The VCA section has linear and exponential control voltage inputs on 3.5 mm jacks. The panel carries 78 faders and buttons.
