The UMC404HD records microphones, instruments and line-level sources into a Mac or Windows computer over USB 2.0. Four combination XLR/TRS inputs take mics, guitars and keyboards, and the four Midas-designed preamps include +48 V phantom power for condenser microphones. Converters work at up to 24-bit/192 kHz, which covers music production and video post-production.
On the rear panel there are four analog inserts for patching in outboard processors such as compressors, gates or EQs. Playback is available on ¼" TRS, RCA and XLR connections. Built-in MIDI input and output let the unit connect to keyboards and other MIDI hardware, including control surfaces.
The interface connects to the computer through a single USB 2.0 port and works with computer-based DAW software. It is intended for studio use as well as mobile recording rigs and for running backing tracks at gigs.
