The AVR-S270BT drives a 5.1 speaker layout with five built-in power amplifiers. It decodes Dolby Digital, Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio, and can upmix stereo sources to 5.1 using Dolby Pro Logic II or DTS Neo:6. Output is rated at 70 W per channel into 8 ohms (20 Hz–20 kHz, 0.08% THD, 2-channel drive).
Video is handled through five HDMI inputs and one HDMI output with ARC. Three of the inputs pass 4K signals through, with HDR and HLG support. Setup is helped by a setup assistant and automatic speaker setup with a supplied microphone. Four Quick Select buttons on the front panel and remote recall saved input, volume and sound settings.
Beyond HDMI, the back panel has two analog inputs, two optical digital inputs, a subwoofer output and an AM/FM tuner. Bluetooth lets a phone, tablet or computer stream music wirelessly. The unit has no phono input.
