A bass-specific wah/fuzz pedal from Electro-Harmonix' Next Step range, built for bass players who want a wah sweep with added fuzz harmonics while keeping low-end weight. It uses a no-moving-parts design and was discontinued in 2020.

The Crying Bass combines a wah filter with a fuzz circuit, both voiced for bass guitar. The fuzz is tuned to add extra harmonics for the wah filter to work on, so the sound can range from a smooth, funk-style sweep to a gritty, aggressive growl.
A fixed low-pass filter control adds bottom end to the wah effect, so the low frequencies of the bass stay present. The pedal has no moving parts: there are no pots, footswitches or gears that can wear out or break. Switching between bypass and effect is silent.
Power comes from a 9 volt battery, which is included with the pedal. A 9 volt power supply can be used instead but is optional. An owner's manual is available as a download from the maker. The model was discontinued in 2020.
