The Z160U is a small hot-shoe flash weighing 160 g, with a rotary dial and an LCD for settings. It produces up to 18Ws with a guide number of 14 (ISO 100), a fixed 28mm flash coverage and daylight-balanced light of about 6000K. A 0.5W 6500K modeling lamp is built in for previewing the light. The unit is switched on by a long press of the Test button.
It works in TTL (auto), manual and repeating stroboscopic modes. In TTL it offers exposure compensation of -3 to +3, and in manual output can be set from 1/128 to full power. S1/S2 optical triggering is supported in manual mode. For wireless use it can act as a slave in the NEEWER 2.4G Q system or the Godox X system, with a stated range of 20 m.
Power comes from a built-in 1100mAh battery rated for 1100 full-power flashes with a 1.4 s recycle time. It charges in about 1.5 hours through a 5V/2A USB-C input and has protection against overheating, overcharging and short circuits. Separate versions are sold for Canon, Nikon and Sony cameras.
