Brio-R

The Brio-R is a five-input integrated stereo amplifier rated at 50 W RMS per channel into 8 ohms and 73 W into 4 ohms. It is built around a toroidal mains transformer and uses a newly designed output stage: a Class A driver feeding a complementary pair of 150 W Sanken Darlington transistors in an emitter-follower arrangement.

Input 1 is a built-in phono stage. Its input sensitivity has been raised and the response below 100 Hz revised to suit current Planar turntables. Film capacitors are used in the signal path and at critical points in the phono circuit, and the low- and high-current power supplies and the coupling and bypass capacitors have been revised.

Remote control is included. The control circuit has its own dedicated power supply and is kept separate from the audio circuit. The micro-controller switches relays, and the volume motor is driven by DC control voltages, so there is no direct contact with the signal path. The case is a custom half-width design measuring 220 x 320 x 80 mm.
