The JX-08 is a compact sound module from the Roland Boutique range that models the 1985 JX-8P. It keeps the original voice design and adds expanded polyphony, two-part multitimbral operation with dual and split modes, and 256 patch slots. The panel carries the hands-on controls of the PG-800 programmer, and the factory bank combines 32 original JX-8P presets with 111 new ones.
Seventeen effect types are included, covering chorus (with a JUNO-106 chorus), phaser, delay, overdrive, fuzz, bit crusher, a lo-fi compressor, filter, pitch shifter and an SDD-320 reverb. A two-part, 64-step polyphonic sequencer offers motion recording, a random pattern generator and memory for 128 patterns, and an arpeggiator is built in.
A USB-C port carries audio and MIDI to a computer, and full-size MIDI In and Out connect other hardware. An external clock input lets vintage analog gear or Eurorack systems drive the sequencer and arpeggiator. The unit runs on four AA batteries or USB power, has a small built-in speaker, and can be paired with the optional DK-01 Boutique Dock or K-25m keyboard unit.
