The VAD516 is the top kit of the V-Drums 5 Series. It uses the V51 module, which carries the sound engine of the V71 and a multi-sampled library made with Drum Workshop. The kit has a PD-14DSX digital snare, VH-14D digital hi-hat, CY-18DR digital ride, two crash pads, PDA series toms with dual-ply mesh heads, and a KD-20-MS kick with a full-size shell. Kick and toms carry Midnight Sparkle wraps.

The module has a large colour display and editing tools for tuning, muffling and head types, plus EQs, compressors, reverbs and ambience effects. Sample import is supported. A coach mode includes Phrase Trainer and Stroke Monitor. Six months of Roland Cloud Ultimate membership is included, which also covers DW Soundworks software and 100 Melodics lessons through Drum Pass.

For connections, the module has three digital pad inputs, four 1/4-inch trigger inputs, mono/stereo main outputs, two direct outputs and an analog mix input. USB-C carries multi-channel audio and MIDI, Bluetooth handles audio streaming, and an SD slot is used for recording and song playback. Wireless expansion downloads use the Roland Cloud Connect app. The kick pedal, snare stand, hi-hat stand, throne and SD card are not included.
