The keyboard has 61 velocity-sensitive keys and 128-voice polyphony. Its sound library covers pianos, organs, strings, brass and synths, with legacy tones from older Roland instruments and a broad set of ethnic sounds. A User Scale function lets each note be tuned in one-cent steps, and up to nine scales can be stored.
A Sample Import function maps WAV files from USB flash memory across the keyboard, with pitches assigned automatically. Up to 32 MB of imported audio can be stored and used like the built-in tones. Six Audio Pads play WAV, AIFF and MP3 files from USB memory, with loop points settable on WAV and AIFF files, or play built-in rhythm patterns. Other performance tools are nine Sound Modify sliders, favorite-sound buttons, split and layer, an arpeggiator, and three multi-effects systems with 78 types each.
The XPS-10 has a USB Computer port for MIDI, a USB Memory port, stereo 1/4-inch outputs, a headphone jack and a pedal jack. It is powered by an AC adaptor. Roland lists its availability as limited to certain regions.
