The H1n records stereo sound through a 90° X/Y unidirectional condenser microphone pair onto microSD or microSDHC cards. It captures WAV files up to 24-bit/96 kHz as well as several MP3 formats, and has a limiter that handles input up to 120 dB SPL plus a low-cut filter for reducing pops and rumble.
Controls are one-touch buttons with a 1.25" monochrome LCD. Recording aids include auto-record, pre-record, self-timer, auto record level, markers and overdubbing. For review and transcription there is playback speed control without pitch change, A-B repeat and a voice emphasize filter. A tone generator and slate tone help line up levels with a camera.
A 1/8" stereo mic/line input supplies 2.5 V plug-in power, and a 1/8" combined headphone/line output has its own volume control. A micro USB port works for file transfer, as a card reader or as a 2-in/2-out USB audio interface. Power comes from two AAA batteries, the optional AD-17 adapter or USB bus power.
