The RUBICON 8 C is a three-woofer floorstander that combines the drivers and cabinet of the passive RUBICON range with amplifier technology from the CALLISTO range. Each speaker is active: closed-loop, self-oscillating Class D amplifiers drive the woofers and tweeter directly, and a digital crossover replaces the passive filter. It is intended to fill larger rooms with bass.
The drivers use DALI's SMC magnet system to lower distortion, and the woofer cones are made from wood fibre with a light, rigid, randomly uneven structure. The 6½-inch woofers have a low-loss rubber surround and a cast-aluminium chassis. High frequencies come from a hybrid module that pairs a soft dome with a planar element, which reaches down to 2.5 kHz for wide dispersion. Inside the cabinet each woofer sits in its own chamber, with a bass reflex port directly behind it.
Audio reaches the speakers over a proprietary wireless link from the DALI Sound Hub. The link does not need an active Wi-Fi signal and carries full 24-bit / 96 kHz audio. The model is shown in a walnut veneer finish.
