The iKeyboard 8X pairs a full-size, semi-weighted 88-key velocity-sensitive keyboard with a compact DAW control section. Alongside the keys are pitch bend and modulation wheels, octave and transpose buttons, and selectable velocity curves for the keys and pads. The control area has a backlit touch fader with LED feedback that follows the DAW and resyncs when channels change, a dual-function rotary encoder with an 11-segment LED ring, channel buttons for rec-enable, solo and mute, and six illuminated transport buttons.
Control mapping uses Mackie Control and HUI protocols, with factory presets for Cubase, Nuendo, Logic Pro, Pro Tools, Ableton Live, Samplitude and Studio One. Every control can be remapped for other MIDI applications in the included iMap software, and the unit can also be set to general MIDI values. Firmware updates are done over USB through iMap.
The keyboard connects over class-compliant USB 2.0 to Windows, macOS and iOS/iPadOS. It also has a MIDI output jack and TRS connectors for expression and sustain pedals, with reversible sustain polarity. The casing is metal and includes a Kensington lock port. A software bundle is included.
