The MM 5 is a tube-based measuring microphone from Neumann. It was developed as an update to the earlier MM 2 and MM 3 measurement microphones, keeping the tube design while using electronics with lower noise.
It is listed among Neumann's historical products and is no longer a current model. It was the last measurement microphone the company produced, which makes it the final step in a line that began with the MM 2 and MM 3.
Its purpose is acoustic measurement rather than music recording, and the lower-noise electronics were the main change over its two predecessors.
