The TX-8470 is a stereo receiver that concentrates on two channels rather than the many channels of an AV receiver. It uses a high-current Class G amplifier with a low negative feedback design, a custom transformer, low-impedance capacitors, and gold-plated speaker terminals and RCA inputs.
Digital audio is handled by an AKM AK4452 32-bit/768 kHz stereo DAC. A phono board for MM and MC cartridges is isolated from the rest of the circuitry and uses discrete op amp circuitry, so a turntable can be connected directly.
For connectivity, the receiver has HDMI ARC, which carries audio and device control over a single cable. Built-in network streaming works with services including Roon, Tidal and Deezer, and Apple and Google assistants are supported for smart home use. Firmware updates, manuals and spec sheets are available from the maker.
