The Porta02mkII combines a four-channel mixer and a cassette multitrack recorder in one unit. It runs at the standard 1 7/8 ips cassette speed, so tapes can be played back on ordinary consumer stereo cassette decks. The workflow covers recording, overdubbing and mixing down to a standard cassette.
Two mic/line input channels feed the recorder, and two tracks can be recorded at the same time. The four-channel mixer has level and pan controls on every channel, so the balance and stereo position of each track can be set during mixdown.
Monitoring is through a headphone output with its own level control. Documentation listed for the model includes an owner's manual and a beginner's guide to recording. The manufacturer lists the model as discontinued.
